Evolve No More

Evolve No More

It’s not all that long ago that the news came out that Evolve, the 4v1 Monster shooter that released in 2015 for PC, PS4 and Xbox One was (at least on the PC), going free to play. Dubbed Evolve: Stage 2, the Free-to-Play version the game had been the recipient of a significant spike in players post the re-release, however it has today been revealed courtesy of a blog post on the Turtle Rock Studios Website that the game was no longer going to be receiving any further support.

This canceled support means that the planned launch of Stage 2 on both consoles will no longer go ahead but as Chris Ashton of Turtle Rock Studios states “it looks like that’s just not meant to be.” Evolve is done, but Turtle Rock isn’t, as stated in the blog post, Ashton goes on to state that the team has “lots of stuff in the works that we hope you’ll enjoy.”

Evolve No More

If you are a fan of Evolve, the studio is hosting one final live stream at their Twitch channel from 6:00AM AEDT, but of course the game’s servers aren’t being shut down, only the continued support of the game. Servers will continue to run up through to an undefined period of time, so if you’ve taken a liking to the changes that have been made to Evolve post the commencement of the Free-To-Play initiative, then it’s not all over and you’ll have more to enjoy “for the foreseeable future.”
