Hardline resolution uproar

Hardline resolution uproar

Just when we thought we were over it, it comes roaring back to the fore. I am of course talking about the resolution war. This time the game in the firing line is Battlefield: Hardline. Reportedly the game will be 900p on PS4 and 720p on Xbox One. This has of course caused something of a stir among gamers across the globe.

For mine however the resolution of a game has very little to do with how good it is. Look at games like The Order. It was stunning but the gameplay left quite a bit to be desired. Gameplay and enjoyment should be at the forefront of developers minds and if they have to lower the resolution to do it, well it is fine by me.

Hardline is looking like a pretty good game regardless of resolution and for once I am actually interested in the single player component. It looks to be a nice mix of traditional Battlefield with some of the innovative elements that the Crysis series used. The addition of multiple ways to tackle each mission makes me sit up and take notice.

You can check out a gameplay trailer for Battlefield: Hardline below (The graphics still look pretty good). Hardline is being released on PC, X1 and PS4 on the 19th of March
