Batman running into PC problems again
*UPDATE 2*
Warner Brothers Interactive have taken the drastic step of halting all sales of the PC version until the problems are resolved. They also released the following statement:
Dear Batman: Arkham Knight PC owners,
We want to apologize to those of you who are experiencing performance issues with Batman: Arkham Knight on PC. We take these issues very seriously and have therefore decided to suspend future game sales of the PC version while we work to address these issues to satisfy our quality standards. We greatly value our customers and know that while there are a significant amount of players who are enjoying the game on PC, we want to do whatever we can to make the experience better for PC players overall.
Thank you to those players who have already given valuable feedback. We are continuously monitoring all threads posted in the Official Batman: Arkham Knight Community and Steam forums, as well as any issues logged with our Customer Support (support.wbgames.com). If you purchased your copy of the game and are not satisfied with your experience, then we ask for your patience while these issues are resolved. If desired, you can request a refund at help.steampowered.com (Steam refund policies can be found here: http://store.steampowered.com/steam_refunds) or the retail location where you purchased the game.
The Batman: Arkham fans have continually supported the franchise to its current height of success, and we want to thank you for your patience as we work to deliver an updated version of Batman: Arkham Knight on PC so you can all enjoy the final chapter of the Batman: Arkham series as it was meant to be played.
*UPDATE*
A Statement from WB and Rocksteady has been released. It is pretty much a non-answer but at least it is something
“We’re aware that some users are reporting performance issues with the PC version of Batman: Arkham Knight, This is something that Rocksteady takes very seriously. We are working closely with our external PC development partner to make sure these issues get resolved as quickly as possible. We’ll update this thread when we’ve got more info to share.”
Original Story
It seems that Batman: Arkham Knight is having the same sort of launch on the PC that the previous Batman game Origins did when it was released. There are already numerous threads, forum posts and support tickets that indicate the Arkham Knight PC port is an unoptimised mess. Frame rate stutters, a 30 FPS cap and muddy textures are just some of the complaints that are surfacing. Check out this thread to see 39 (at time of posting) pages of people with issues.
This seems to becoming an increasingly common problem, especially with PC ports, and gamers are getting sick of it. The introduction of Steam refunds will be of use here so hopefully people can get their money back if they are experiencing these problems. The only other thing to do is hope that Rocksteady and Warner Brothers Games act quickly and push out a patch that will fix these issues. We are reviewing the game on PC so we will make sure to let you know if the issues are resolved.
If you are super excited to get your hands on the latest Batman adventure you may be best of getting it on console if that is an option, otherwise you may find yourself with an unplayable game.
