Ubisoft E3 2015 Conference Wrap Up
South Park
Big surprise right out of the gate with the announcement of a new South Park game. Titled The Fractured But Whole the game see’s the boys ditch their fantasy outfits and replace them with superhero ones. Once again Trey Parker and Matt Stone are heavily involved so the humor should be spot on. Interesting to note though that it isn’t being developed by Obsidian but by the Ubisoft San Fran office. Hopefully that doesn’t affect the outcome and we get another quality South Park game.
For Honor
A brand new IP, For Honor is about visceral sword based combat. Set during various time periods it is a 4 v 4 action game with AI minions inhabiting the battlefield. It was a very early showing but things look quite promising. Visceral combat is clearly the focus of the developers and from what was shown they have succeeded. This one is still a long way off however so who knows how things will turn out in the end
The Divison
Another year and another trailer for The Division. This one showed people entering the “Dark Zone” and attempting to escape with loot grab. Team play is clearly the focus and apart from the terrible scripted team chat the game looks to be pretty good. It almost has a Day-Z feel to it with the ability to turn on team mates at will. There is a beta coming to PC, Xbox One and PS4 early next year and the game will be released on the 8th of March 2016. This one could go either way but it has potential to be a lot of fun.
Rainbow Six: Siege
Once again the badly scripted team chat made an appearance and once again the game looked good despite that. The new Rainbow Six is looking to be a solid title and it was even revealed the Angela Basset will be playing the director of the Rainbow program in the campaign mode. I think it is safe to say that to get enjoyment out of this one you will need a good selection of team mates. There is a beta coming to all platforms in September so you will be able to get your hands on it soon.
Assassins Creed
A disappointing showing from Assassins Creed with no in game footage shown, just a cinematic trailer. This is somewhat worrying and is probably a miss step from Ubisoft. I am unsure about how this will turn out and some gameplay could have tipped me either way. I guess we will all just have to wait and see.
Ghost Recon: Wildlands
The Ubisoft Show finished with a bang announcing a new open world Ghost Recon game called Wildlands. It looks to be more action orientated than the other Ghost Recon games with strategy taking a little bit of a back seat to the gunplay. That aside it looked great and was a real surprise. Check out the trailer now.
The Rest.
Also on show at the Ubisoft conference were a console version of Trackmania called Trackmania Turbo, a new Anno game and of course Just Dance 2016. Trailer are below.
