The Best E3 Conference is Happening Without E3
Leave it to the team at Devolver Digital to make one of the greatest press releases I have seen in my time with Player2. After their highly successful direct during E3 last year, the team from Devolver Digital are bringing us a brand new one with a live pre-recorded presentation on Twitch and Steam.
Now if you didn’t see the direct last year take 20ish minutes and watch it, I’ll wait……
Right so after seeing the insanity that was their direct in 2019, I can only imagine what the team at Devolver Digital have come up with to top that, with the event promising some ‘what the…’ narrative surprises. The full press release is below and it is worth a read.
Amid a groundbreaking new level digital showcases, Devolver Digital aims to raise the bar for overrated marketing videos with this year’s Devolver Direct on July 11 at 12:00PM Pacific US time. The seventh-best indie game label will step up to the plate once more and whiff real hard with a live pre-recorded presentation on Twitch and Steam.
This year’s showcase continues the tradition of overpromises with new game reveals, gameplay reveals, release date announcements, and special guests from the industry to help usher in these important marketing bullet points. And it’s nearly all gameplay because that’s what the youths of today demand.
The astonishing misuse of marketing budget will end with a few surprises and game demos available to play by the unwashed masses including Carrion, Disc Room, and an unannounced game. Maybe another game too, who can really tell where this is all leading.
Devolver Digital fans and detractors can catch up on the unnecessarily intricate narrative to the ongoing saga by watching last year’s Devolver Direct and begin their uninformed speculation at on Discord.
The only downside is the fact that we are effectively on the downside of the world so if you want to watch this live, you will have to be up at 5 am July 12, although it is a good chance that either Editor-in-Chief Hewso or the ever illustrious Paul James or both will save you the trouble of getting out of bed that early and have numerous musings on twitter and here at Player2.
