The Most Anticipated Sports/Driving Games For 2022

2022 is here and as is the tradition at the start of a new year, we are looking ahead at what is coming to our PCs and Consoles in the coming months. As always this is based on what we know is coming, not unannounced titles that will surely get released during the year. It is now time start your engines and grab a Gatorade because it is Sports and Driving games’ turn in the spotlight.

The Most Anticipated Sports/Driving Games for 2022

Gran Turismo 7

The once king of Console Sim racers is making a return and is looking to take back its crown. After a couple of releases that seemed to be stuck in the past, Gran Turismo 7 is looking like a promising return to form for rev heads everywhere.

My biggest worry with Gran Turismo is that there are too many legacy things holding it back. The UI for example has always been a weak point of the franchise. The other thing that needs to be rectified is the damage modelling which has been either poor or non-existent in past entries.

If they can get those things right, then there is no reason the GT can’t sit on top of the racer pile once it releases on the 4th of March.

OlliOlli World

The latest in the insanely addictive OlliOlli franchise, OlliOlli World is bringing some big changes to the series. A story, a new cartoony graphical style (think Adventure Time) and more varied and exciting skating tasks and everything thing is pointing to this being a winner.

For those that haven’t played it, OlliOlli scratches the same itch that games like Trials and Trackmania do so if you are into that sort of thing I strongly suggest checking this out. It looks like a more complete game, with AAA presentation to top it off. I can’t wait until the game is out on the 8th of Feb.

WWE 2K22

A WWE game in your most anticipated? Are you mad? Stay with me folks I have my reasons. The first is morbid curiosity. WWE 2K20 is one of the worst games I have ever played, it caused the 2K21 version to get cancelled so that the devs could essentially scrap it all and start again. I want to see what this shapes up to be.

Secondly, I enjoy wrestling and I can’t see why there can’t be a sensational WWE game for fans to enjoy. Hopefully, the reboot of the franchise is exactly what was needed and this edition is what fans deserve.

I guess we will find out if it is a welcome trip to Suplex City or if it is just another (power)bomb come March this year.

Forza Motorsport

Dropping the numbers for a full, ground up rebuild, Forza Motorsport is hoping to cash in on the popularity of its younger, cooler sibling and the power of the Xbox Series console to deliver a racing sim that will keep even the most hardcore driving fans happy.

Forza is a name that is on almost everyone’s lips thanks to the insanely good Forza Horizon 5, with many forgetting that the brand started as a direct competitor to Gran Turismo. Well this year hopefully Turn 10 knock it out of the park and remind everyone that the original still has plenty to offer.

Expect this one in September/October as is something of a tradition for Forza titles.

Windjammers 2

The original Windjammers has become something of a cult hit over the years. Originally appearing on the NeoGeo of all systems, this mix of Volleyball, Soccer and Frisbee has had a dedicated community of players for years.

Now after all this time the sequel is nearly here. Featuring all the things that made the original so great along with a host of modern touches, Windjammers 2 is looking like it could be the new party game of choice, at least until Mario Kart 9 is released.

Windjammers 2 is coming on the 20th of Jan so there is not long to wait.
