PlayStation Acquires Haven Studios
The studio acquistions keep coming, with PlayStation, fresh of the heels of the monster purchase of Halo and Destiny developer Bungie, having picked up yet another studio. Haven Studios, the year-old team helmed by Assassin’s Creed Producer Jade Raymond was this morning announced via Twitter, and the PlayStation Blog as being the next team to join PlayStation Studios.

Haven is a particularly interesting purchase, due to the journey that Jade Raymond has been on. Following her time at Ubisoft where she helmed successful projects like Assassin’s Creed 1+2, Splinter Cell Blacklist, Raymond joined EA where her team, Motive, assisted in the development of 2017’s Star Wars Battlefront II, before the team focused on the eventually cancelled Amy Hennig written, Visceral Games developed Star Wars open-world title. When the game was cancelled, Visceral Games itself was shuttered, and eventually Raymond departed EA for Google. At Google Raymond had no luck either, as she arrived and lead the first party studio initiative at Google Stadia, before the corporate overlords decided to end that pathway as well.

Within weeks of departing Google, Haven Studios had been formed, a partnership with PlayStation was established, and exclusivity on the studios’ first game, a multiplayer focussed title, was locked down. The game at the centre of all of this is publicly unknown.
