Things have been a little lonely for the last few years, for the reasons we know too well. It seems like it has been forever since a whopping big group of like-minded gaming individuals have gotten together to test their deathmatch skills in one central location. Enter, DreamHack, an international show based around one thing, games stuff with mates. The good news is, for the first time ever it is coming to Melbourne, a city known for gamers getting together in person and, well, gaming.
DreamHack, at its heart, is a big old celebration of gaming. There are talks, expos, career guidance, group play areas, tabletop gaming and cosplay. But perhaps the most exciting thing for many is the BYOC LAN, a LAN party to rival anything ever seen. Imagine the scene, you, your gaming rig, your mates and the entire Melbourne gaming community battling it out for some great cash prizes. It is the dream that many have been clinging to during the pandemic years and it is about to come true for anyone who is willing and able.
To join in the fun you will need to get yourself a ticket. At the reasonable price of $155 per ticket, you get 3-day access to the DreamHack show at Melbourne’s Olympic Park, as well as the LAN itself. This means that you can spend all three days trying your luck and skill at taking on the competition from all over Australia and aiming for the cash prizes. Be warned though, tickets are selling fast with over 60% having already been snapped up by those hungry to get back into the action.
At this point, there are a host of tournaments already organised, with organisers promising even more to come. This is the schedule as it stands right now:

Just as a heads up, the organisers would like you all to know there is a list of everything you need to bring to make sure you have a blast, should you choose join the fun.
- Your Gaming Rig (duh)
- Power cables
- Mouse/Keyboard
- Headphones (It’s going to be noisy folks)
- Have the games you are playing installed and updated (you don’t want to do that on a shared WIFI)
- Monitor and associated cables (Just one folks, no 3-screen racing rigs please)
- Some cashola, dollarydoos or just your EFTPOS card (Sustenance is a must)
If this all sounds like something you want to be apart of all the links you need are below. Seriously, we could all use an excuse to catch up with everyone again and what better way to do that than by owning friends at CS:GO, it is what nature intended.
