Feast Like the Gods to Celebrate the Launch of God of War Ragnarok

Never has a collaboration made as much sense as the one announced between PlayStation Australia and Norse-inspired restaurant Mjølner to celebrate the launch of God of War Ragnarok. The two have paired together to present a menu inspired by the Nine Realms, with dishes named after key characters and themed to embody the essence of each realm to take customers on a journey to experience the world as Ragnarok approaches.

The nine-course menu includes a mix of delectable food and cocktails including salmon pastrami starter “Surtr’s Rage”, scallop and bone marrow entree “Freya’s Revenge”, the epic dry aged scotch fillet main course “Secrets of the Father”, and my personal favourite, the “Highway to Hel” banana pudding dessert with brandy butterscotch and caramelised banana. Thanks to PlayStation Australia, I was able to sample the whole menu yesterday at the launch event for the incredible God of War Ragnarok, and I can recommend every single course. I also tried non-alcoholic versions of the cocktails gin-based “Mists of Niflheim”, “Myths of Midgard” mead, butter fat washed tequila-based “Gates of Valhalla” and cognac and spiced port finisher Dwarves’ Forge, along with the bespoke mocktail called the “Light of Alfheim”, which is a delightfully citrussy mix of citrus husk cordial, lemon, and soda, and I could honestly drink it with every meal.

The menu aside, Mjølner feels like the perfect venue to attend to really inspire the God of War vibe. Surrounded by Norse-inspired decor and treated to a unique dining experience, we were able to choose our own steak knives with which to devour our food, and the staff are clearly committed to maintaining the Nordic atmosphere – they obviously love what they do. Eating at Mjølner feels like attending a proper feast.

Speaking about the collaboration, Patrick Lagana, Director of Marketing at PlayStation Australia said, “God of War Ragnarök is one of the most anticipated games of the year and we wanted to offer Aussies an opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of Kratos and Atreus like never before. The expertise and passion of the team at Mjølner has really shone through as they have brought each realm to life. We can’t wait for everyone to Discover The Realms as they get ready for Ragnarök.”

For those who would like to experience the Discover the Realms menu for themselves, they can do so at Mjølner restaurants in Sydney or Melbourne until November 20th, where the God of War-inspired feast will be available alongside their traditional menu. You can see the full menu here, and if you want to book your own experience you can do so here for Sydney, or here for Melbourne.

Big thanks to PlayStation Australia for allowing me to come along and enjoy this incredible meal, and celebrate the launch of the amazing title God of War Ragnarok! The game is available now, and it’s one of the best I’ve played all year.
