Homeworld 3 | Hype Check
With Gearbox’s Homeworld 3 now out, we wanted to touch base with some of our team to see how they’re feeling about the game. We’ve seen a range of media up to this point, from gameplay showcases and trailers, we’ve seen the press releases, and heard the talk, but how are we feeling? That’s where we’re bringing Hype Check into the mix; to get a gauge on what the prospective players are thinking. So here’s how we’re feeling about Homeworld 3.
Paul James
I’ve never been a huge fan of RTS’ and only a select number of roguelikes have ever really captured my interest as well, so the pairing of the two for Homeworld 3, the third entry in a series that I’ve had no prior experience with the IP, doesn’t do much for my levels of interest. I’m sure it’ll be good, but it’s not really for me.
Rob Caporetto
I’ve had a mixed run with the Homeworlds – the first was incredible for its time, managing to make strategic battles work in 3D, even if let’s be frank, I wasn’t great at it, and never really mastered it. Which is a major shame, as I love the aesthetics and soundtrack oh so much.
So we’ve got the next sequel, and whilst I’m actually not able to run it on my rig (at least for now), my initial looking forward to it has dipped a bit, which has also been the result of some rough news about the initial demos out there.
I’m ultimately curious about how the final game will fare, even if I’m in no position to jump on it right away, because I do feel we need more space opera brilliance in our lives.
Matt Hewson
The world needs more RTS games right now and what better franchise to fill the gap than Homeworld. Even when the first game came out, it scratched a very particular itch that the likes of Warcraft and C&C just couldn’t touch, so in the current marketplace place there is a huge hole where this sort of game used to sit. I am very keen.
