The Big News From Ubisoft Forward 2024

So the Ubisoft Forward has been and gone for another year and while it wasn’t quite at the same level as previous years (and coming in after that banging Xbox show was always going to be rough) there are still plenty of things to get excited about on the way.

Star Wars Outlaws

Thanks to Ubisoft, I got to see a massive chunk of this one and you can read my full thoughts on what I saw here: That said these two trailers are a nice slice of the action and should give gamers out there a good idea of what to expect when Kay and Nyx land in August.

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time

Boy they really jumped the gun on announcing this one early, didn’t they? I guess Ubisoft got sick of getting questions about when it is coming so they slipped a little teaser in to announce a 2026 release date. Honestly, I don’t mind. Do it right no matter how long it takes I say, but this game is probably going to hang around Ubi’s neck until it is finally released.

Anno 117: Pax Romana

The Anno games are fantastic strategy titles so the news of a new one excites me. That said, there really wasn’t much to this trailer apart from some bad acting.

Assassins Creed Shadows

As expected we got a nice amount of time spent on the latest Assassins Creed adventure and for me, it was easily the best part of the Ubisoft show. I love what they are doing and the deep dive into the combat was really appreciated. The talk of the game being smaller than Valhalla (around the size of Origin) makes me a happy man too. Can’t wait!

Just Dance VR

I can’t actually believe this wasn’t already a thing. This sort of movement and rhythm games work wonderfully in VR so it makes total sense that it is getting a release. There is a crowded market on the Meta Quest for this sort of game however so it will be interesting to see how it goes.

The Rest

Ubisoft rounded out their show with a host of trailers for updates to existing games. xDefiant, Skull and Bones, The Rouge Prince of Persia, The Crew Motorfest, Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown and Avatar all got new content announced in the form of Seasons or DLC. You can check out all of the trailers below.

As I said, it wasn’t the best show Ubisoft has put together but Assassins Creed and Star Wars Outlaws fill in a lot of gaps for me. Can’t wait for both of them.
