Lorcana Azurite Sea – Accessory Extravaganza

Lorcana Azurite Sea – Accessory Extravaganza

Azurite Sea has been taking the Lorcana world by storm as the latest wave of content, which means Ravensburger and Disney have also launched a slew of new accessory designs to round out the experience. Player2 was lucky enough to receive a range of these to share our thoughts for potential purchasers ahead of the Christmas Season.

Azurite Sea Sleeves Scar

Sleeves

Perhaps the most important accessory for any TCG/CCG fan, card sleeves serve a number of purposes; protecting cards themselves from wear, making a deck easier to shuffle, allowing players to identify a deck or who owns what cards easily and also making cards easier to pick up from a table. The Lorcana sleeves are premium thickness sleeves with a full art back and very slight matte texture, fitting nicely into a range of deckboxes. Each pack includes 65 sleeves which leaves a few to spare after building a minimum size deck of 60. The designs for this wave include an Emerald Scar design and a vibrant Amethyst Winnie the Pooh wizard design, joining the Shimmer Skies Ruby and Sapphire sleeve colours, with Amber and Steel presumably rounding out the next wave to cover all six Ink colours. For players looking to keep their cards in good condition without moving into the wild world of Lorcana speculation, these official sleeves are a great choice.

Azurite Sea Elsa Playmat

Playmat

While sleeves will protect cards on any surface, they aren’t something every player likes indulging in. This is when having a decent play surface can go a long way to keeping cards in decent condition and making play smoother – to that end, every Lorcana player should try and have a playmat handy. For those who want something portable, the official Lorcana playmats come with a range of designs from Tangled, Lilo & Stitch, Peter Pan, Moana, Beauty and the Beast and Encanto, with the Azurite Sea wave bringing designs from Frozen 2 alongside a Buccaneer Donald Duck mat to tie in with the general vibes of this latest wave. My sole complaint about the playmats is their lack of any game related information or sections akin to the board found in the Gateway set, but there’s always a chance that could change in future releases. Having a way to track lore or having play areas defined on the mat might make them less versatile but when you’re neck deep into this stuff like me you likely want dedicated mats for each game to sit on top of a giant multipurpose neoprene mat!

Azurite Sea Deckbox

Deck Boxes

Storing and transporting Lorcana decks is made simple with official Lorcana deckboxes, this wave’s pair featuring the same Emerald Scar and Amethyst Pooh art as the above-mentioned sleeves. While these deck boxes are sturdy, there’s not much setting them apart from a standard Ultimate Guard/Gamegenic deck box outside of the art, and I’d like to see Ravensburger take some ideas from the newer Star Wars Unlimited ‘soft crate’ deck boxes which include a small container for tokens. Instead, the main advantage of these deck boxes over a generic design is easily identifying what is in them, especially if you’re like me and have multiple games utilising deck boxes floating around making it more difficult to track what is in where. The art alignment to an Ink colour also makes it easy to keep cards of that type stored or if that’s the primary Ink focus in a built deck. With a few options to choose from and more on the way, having some official deck boxes just for active decks sits nicely alongside Lorcana sleeves and a playmat for a more luxurious play experience.

Azurite Trove Contents

Illumineer’s Trove

A combination of deluxe accessories, a storage solution and eight Boosters Packs all in one, an Illumineer’s Trove is a handy item to have, but its usefulness will be determined by exactly how many Lorcana cards a player needs to store. Each Trove is aligned to the wave in which it releases and includes a set of d6 dice useful for tracking information in-game, a divider for each Ink type with custom art, two storage wells in which to place the dividers and a number of cards alongside a small Lore tracking disc. While the price of a Trove may seem a tad high for those used to buying whole Booster boxes, for anyone buying single Booster packs a Trove is a fairly economical deal. Sleeved cards and Lorcana deck boxes also fit inside a Trove and can thus be a pretty decent way to keep a smaller collection organised in an attractive way. As with any card storage solution, the amount it holds will vary depending on whether sleeves are used or not and their respective thickness, but a Trove box can comfortably hold two Lorcana Starter Decks and the ten Booster Packs worth of cards that will come with them unsleeved, but will likely be inadequate for those with very large Lorcana collections.

Azurite Stitch Box

Stitch Collector’s Gift Set

This set is perfect for the Stitch fanatic, but also a decent way to get an exclusive Lorcana promo, a unique design binder and a few booster packs to boot. The Binder is the same quality and design of other official Lorcana binders but featuring a cover and spine wholly dedicated to the many different guises Stitch has taken in Lorcana to this point, the Buccanner Stitch taking the lead with the included promo card a foil Buccaneer Stitch variant. While there’s not potentially a lot of savings to be had in this bundle in terms of price of individual items, it’s the nature of the beast that if you simply must have all the Stitch goodies you can lay hands on, you’ll want this Gift Set.
