2025’s Most Anticipated Games – Jason’s Picks

2025's Most Anticipated Games - Jason's Picks

2025 is shaping up to be one of the biggest years in video games of all time. No matter whether you play on PC, PlayStation 4 or 5, Xbox One or Series X|S, or the Nintendo Switch, and maybe the upcoming Switch successor, you’re going to have a lot to play in 2025. Given that, we couldn’t simply pool the team’s thoughts into one top 10 countdown of the most anticipated games, so we solicited 10 from each person to discuss. Today, hear what Jason has to say about their 10 most anticipated games of 2025.

P2 Most Anticipated 2025 - Vampire The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2

10. Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2

The first game was great for this one. It’s been 20 years but I still haven’t forgotten. Like quite a few things I’m into, the game was weird and had so much heart. It was unfinished and flawed yet somehow still captured me in a way few games have. I pray to whatever gods may be that this time it’s complete. It’s special, and I want people to experience that.

P2 Most Anticipated 2025 - The Alters

9. The Alters

The Alters seems absolutely batshit insane. You play as Jan, who is some random guy trapped on a deadly planet. Sound standard enough. However, Jan can create new versions of himself, and does so to keep his mobile base functioning. Also, you can build relationships with your other selves, and it’s got a narrative focus. It’s also got base building. Batshit insane. Awesome.

P2 Most Anticipated 2025 - GRAFT

8. GRAFT

Body modification, survival horror, narrative focus. All of that sounds cool to me, but what really sold me on this one was that it’s an RPG by the makers of Battletech and the Shadowrun Trilogy. I have seen no-one talk about this game yet, and it’s baffling to me. I think this might be one of the sleeper hits of 2025. I just don’t know if that’s a good or a bad thing.

P2 Most Anticipated 2025 - Paralives

7. Paralives

I grew tired of the Sims 4 formula a while ago, even if it seems like they’ve turned it around. It was growing bloated and buggy, like a corpse in the water. Also expensive, which I can’t assign the corpse narrative to. Paralives feels like a breath of fresh air, even if it’s going up against the goliath. Lots of things added that look really interesting, and the furniture/housing system looked amazing, even months ago. Very keen on this one. Please be good, because competition breeds innovation.

P2 Most Anticipated 2025 - Pathbreakers Roaming Blades

6. Pathbreakers: Roaming Blades

There’s been plenty of turn-based RPGs where you play as mercenaries, and I think they’re mostly all great. I love the artstyle that has been shown off, and the customisation looks fantastic. The world is procedurally generated, so if there’s diversity in company building this one should have some good legs, and it’s open world. A lot to love here, and I’m ready.

P2 Most Anticipated 2025 - DEADCAM

5. DEADCAM

The V/H/S series is one of my absolute favourite set of horror movies, and DEADCAM seems a lot like it’ll lean into that. VHS graininess, short-form horror stories, found footage. This is absolutely my vibe, and it’s coming into Early Access next year. Best part of the short-form nature of the game is that each chapter feels complete, they’re just adding more content after (and tuning things up, naturally). This looks creepy as heck.

4. Kingdom Come Deliverance 2

The first game was a bit of a cult classic, and the second iterates on everything that made it good. Our boy Henry has grown up; it brings a tear to my eye. Where the original was weird and messy, it was full of so much heart and passion. Hopefully, that makes a great sequel. I guess we’ll find out in February.

3. Civilization VII

Who the hell got together and said February should be this packed? Shame on them. If you don’t know what these games are by now, I don’t know what to tell you. My PC is ready to be absolutely decimated by all these games. It just sucks because between this and Monster Hunter, they will take up a good deal of space for quite a while.

P2 Most Anticipated 2025 - Atelier Yumia The Alchemist of Memories & the Envisioned Land

2. Atelier Yumia: The Alchemist of Memories & the Envisioned Land

In a beautiful and different world, this would be first on my list. I adore the Atelier series, and Ryza brought the series into the limelight. There’s two Atelier games coming out in 2025, as if there wasn’t enough games for me to care about. In the spirit of fairness, I’m only listing the one I’m most interested in.

1. Monster Hunter Wilds

I didn’t expect there to be a time when a bunch of AAA games would be topping my list, but we live in strange times. Monster Hunter World brought in a bunch of new folks and also modernised the game by making areas continuous and regions feel more alive. Wilds seems like it’s more of that. Sometimes that’s all you need.
