Morbid Metal Announcement Comes With a Playable Demo
Want to switch between cool robots while getting involved in wild melee battles? Well, do I have the game for you. Morbid Metal is a new roguelike coming to early access, thanks to a collaboration between developer Screen Juice and publisher Ubisoft and it promises exactly that, robots kicking the crap out of each other. Thanks to Ubisoft, I got a chance to play the demo early and I have to say, what I have played is exciting.
The demo gave me time with two different robots, which I could swap on the fly. One is a nimble, fast attacker, the other a beefcake that hits big and slow. Being a roguelike, dying is a thing that will happen, and resources earned can go to improving and upgrading before the next run. Sadly, the demo didn’t really give me a taste of these features, but it did give a great first impression of the combat systems, which seem slick and satisfying. Lots of air combos, special moves and dodges mixed together create fast and frantic encounters. The game also looks stunning, with this cool robot samurai vibe that is a pure treat for the eyes.
The game is coming to early access on August 20, but you can grab the demo yourself now as part of Steam Next Fest. Just head over to the game’s Steam Page. I love a roguelike, so I will be watching this one closely, and you can bet we will have more coverage on it ASAP.
