Reign of Jafar Launches for Lorcana Today
Following on from a May 30 pre-release exclusively to Hobby Stores, Lorcana’s eight wave the Reign of Jafar has hit its wider retail date which means a huge range of products is now available to Lorcana fans worldwide.
Reign of Jafar sees the titular evil sorcerer (for those following along with the Lorcana meta-story) having reforged the broken Hexwell Crown in a bid to reign supreme over the Glimmerverse. Building on from the first solo/co-op product, Illumineer’s Quest: Deep Trouble that launched alongside Wave 4, Ursula’s Return, Reign of Jafar brings the next Illumineer’s Quest package with Palace Heist, tasking players with retrieving the Hexwell Crown before it’s too late.
While we may only see an Illumineer’s Quest set every four waves, Reign of Jafar maintains the rest of the product line-up players have come to expect, with a new Mulan and Stitch adorned Illumineer’s Trove, two pre-con Single Player decks (Tiana Amber /Bruno Amethyst combo and Mulan Ruby/Stitch Steel combo), Playmats (Hercules’ Hades and a very cool Rescue Rangers design), sleeves and deckboxes and plenty of booster packs. Incidentally, Reign of Jafar will be the last wave with the current Rarity hierarchy, as Lorcana’s upcoming 9th wave, Fabled, will introduce two new Rarity levels, Epic and Iconic, for a total of 8 rarity types.
Thanks to Ravensburger and Disney, Player2 has received a range of Reign of Jafar products to put through their paces, including Illumineers Quest: Palace Heist which will be our first foray into the solo/co-operative side of Lorcana and one that might be the next best thing to Gateway for family purchases.
