Edge of Eternities Prerelease Events Are Go
Following on from the massive success of their Final Fantasy content wave, Wizards of the Coast are setting the MtG galaxies ablaze with Edge of Eternities, the space-faring set that has entered it’s Prerelease period today.
We covered many of the new mechanics in our Edge of Eternities reveal including the Station, Warp, Lander and Void keywords which bring some space-faring flavour to each Magic battle, whether it be Commander, Standard or Sealed format. FLGS’s Australia wide will be holding Prerelease events from today which provide players with a Prerelease bundle consisting of:
- 6 Edge of Eternities Play Boosters
- 1 Traditional foil year-stamped rare or mythic rare card
- 1 Deck box
- 1 Spindown die
Players looking for some guidance around joining in a Prerelease event can find great advice around deck construction on the offical MtG website. There’s also a full card gallery for Edge of Eternities which is a great way to theorycraft potential decks or plan future card purchases.
Edge of Eternities launches for MtG:Arena on the 29th of this month, with a wider worldwide product release including Bundles, Collector and Play Booster boxes as well as two new Pre-con Commander decks in stores on August 1st.
While the Final Fantasy wave went all-out with four unique Commander decks, EoE has scaled back to a respectable two, maintaining the Wedge streak of the past few waves. Each of Edge of Eternities’ two commander decks feature a legendary Spacecraft with the new Station mechanic that can be your Commander, building upon the thematic elements EoE has concentrated on thus far. The World Shaper deck “focuses on sacrificing lands only to grow back stronger, while Counter Intelligence seeks to power up artifacts and proliferate counters, delivering fun and creative new strategies.” Each deck features new and reprinted cards, as well as two new dual land cards.
With some truly out of this world art, Edge of Eternities is here to ensure Magic fans worried about the impact of IP based waves that main series fans aren’t being left in the cold. Featuring some of the richest and most detailed lore ever created for the game, EoE will take players on a ‘space fantasy’ journey on a grand scale.
