Exclusive Player2 Lorcana Fabled Card Reveal!
Thanks to the team at Lorcana, Player2 have been given the chance to reveal a card from the upcoming Fabled set! Releasing at the end of the month, Fabled marks the first set rotation for Lorcana, meaning the first four waves of content will no longer be legal in official play. However, that doesn’t mean those cards are gone forever – in fact, Fabled as a set focuses on keeping quite a number of them in tournaments worldwide, like the Pluto – Friendly Pooch card which can now stay, sit AND roll over in your deck.
First appearing in the Into the Inklands Amber & Emerald Starter Deck and then later in Lorcana Gateway, this is a card most players should have a few of. Thanks to the rules around rotation and reprints Ravensburger are implementing, because Pluto – Friendly Pooch hasn’t had its card’s effects altered in the latest printing, all prior versions will remain legal.
It’s not just reprints and rotations that are changing up Lorcana for players and collectors with the launch of Fabled. As we’ve previously covered, there will be new rarity types appearing in booster packs going forward. From Waves 1-8, the highest obtainable rarity was Enchanted cards, many of which were numbered past the core set. If you thought getting your hands on an Enchanted card was a stroke of luck, then get ready for Iconics. There will only be two card designs per wave, featuring “full-card artwork, a special lore star foil pattern and 3D hot stamping” to make them even more unique. To offset this, Ravensburger are also introducing another upper tier rarity card that will slot between Legendary’s and Enchanted – the Epic cards. There will be 18 of these per wave, meaning a further 20 chase cards per wave on top of Enchanteds. To make Epic cards stand out, these feature “frameless art, a vivid rainbow foil finish, holofoil symbols and tinted text”. Lorcana has in the past been criticised for the low pull rates of Enchanted cards – sometimes multiple booster boxes won’t reveal one – that having another rarity that should appear more often might help to satiate the hunger of card hunters, or at least take the sting out of 100+ packs and zero Enchanteds. Of note, Ravensburger have been very clear that there will be no reprints of previously released Enchanted cards, letting collectors breathe a sigh of relief, while some older cards may receive an Enchanted treatment in upcoming waves.

With just over two weeks until Fabled hits shelves worldwide, it’s time to check in with your Friendly Local Game Store and see what events they’re offering. Fabled might also be the next best entry point to Lorcana now given the difficulty in obtaining some of the older waves of content, so for anyone who has yet to make the jump, now’s the time to order a Gateway set and get yourself ready for August 29th!
