2026's Most Anticipated Games - Jason's Picks
2026 is shaping up to be one of the biggest years in video games of all time. No matter whether you play on PC, PlayStation 4 or 5, Xbox One or Series X|S, or the Nintendo Switch 2, you’re going to have a lot to play in 2026. Given that, we couldn’t simply pool the team’s thoughts into one top 10 countdown of the most anticipated games, so we solicited 10 from each person to discuss. Today, hear what Jason has to say about their 10 most anticipated games of 2026.
10. Fable
Fable was such a breath of fresh air when it launched. This was the golden era of RPGs, and it’s been a long time since I’ve thought about the series much at all. Another reboot, but the franchise still has some legs. Here’s to hoping it’s great and makes room for more games in the future. Please be good.
9. Stranger Than Heaven
Information on this one is still pretty scant. I was into it as soon as there was a jazz bar, but playing across multiple time periods sounds awesome as heck. Whilst I’ve fallen off a bit, due to how long they are and how many they are, the Yakuza games are dear to me, so a game by the same studio sounds wonderful.
8. Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis
We’ve finally made it full circle. This is a remake of the original Tomb Raider, which I loved as a teenager. Very excited to see all the newly redesigned environments, and for this to lay the foundations for more remakes of the early games if this goes well. There’s a good reason Lara Croft is iconic, and this will be a great way to bring new fans in.
7. Dragon Quest VII Reimagined
I would consider Dragon Quest to be the weird cousin to Final Fantasy. Here’s the rub; weird is good. This game looks gorgeous and I’m a huge fan of the changes to the style, whilst still keeping the spirit of the original. Loved this on 3DS and am keen to see it with some new reinterpretations and a fresh coat of paint.
6. Nioh 3
There’s not too many games in my eyes that can rival the behemoth that is Fromsoft. Nioh is one of the few. The first two games in the series were great, and I’ve played through them both twice so I am very keen for more content. For all intents and purposes, this seems to take the groundwork that was laid with the first two games, add in some Wo Long, and improve on it all.
5. Resident Evil Requiem
If you had told me after the very rough game that was Resident Evil 6 that we’d get a slew of bangers, I would not have believed you. But that’s the world we live in. I don’t know a tonne about this game as I avoid trailers and previews where I can, but the series has enough goodwill that I have faith it’ll be great.
4. The Blood of Dawnwalker
Vampires fall into the same area for zombies for me. Some people are sick of them, but I can’t get enough. This is the debut game by Rebel Wolves, founded by the game director of The Witcher 3. Apparently the story changes based on the things you do in the game, and you have limited time to get everything done. I go rabid for that stuff, so I’ll be watching this with interest.
3. Crimson Desert
If I am being completely honest, I barely pay attention to AAA games. I did not know Crimson Desert existed, but after checking it out this honestly looks incredible. I’ve always wanted to play Black Desert Online but got turned off by the MMO aspects. This looks like it’s got all the trimmings of an MMO in a single player package, so consider me invested.
2. Tropico 7
Viva El Presidente! I got into Tropico 3 years ago, and have never looked back. This series has always been a silly, weird take on the city builder genre, and I adore it. Exploit the land, exploit the people, exploit other countries and make the island of Tropico the best island in the Caribbean.
1. Control: Resonant
If my over a hundred hours of podcast listening, countless hours reading and watching videos on SCPs didn’t make it abundantly clear, I am very much awaiting this game. Control was a huge surprise to almost everyone, I think, but now expectations are set and they’re high. Bring it on.
