Pokemon GO Fest hits Melbourne this July
Pokémon Trainers from across Australia are invited to gather for a free community celebration of Pokémon GO Fest 2026: Global at Queensbridge Square, Southbank, Melbourne. Taking place across Saturday 11 July and Sunday 12 July, from 9:00am–5:00pm daily, this is set to be the largest Pokémon GO event ever held in Melbourne. Pokémon GO fans will be able to enjoy immersive photo opportunities, collect a free Pikachu visor and take part in community meet-ups throughout the weekend. The event will also provide a dedicated space for Trainers to connect, trade, raid and explore together.
The local celebration coincides with Pokémon GO Fest 2026: Global, a worldwide event inviting millions of Trainers to play together across the globe. For the first time ever, Pokémon GO Fest: Global will be free for all Trainers logged in during the event weekend.
This year’s event features the highly anticipated debut of Mega Mewtwo X and Mega Mewtwo Y in Pokémon GO, available through Super Mega Raid Battles. Trainers will also be able to complete Special Research to encounter the Mythical Pokémon Zeraora, the Thunderclap Pokémon, for the very first time in Pokémon GO.
Trainers will have the chance to encounter the most diverse variety of Pokémon species ever seen in the wild, with featured Pokémon types rotating throughout the day. Each hour will spotlight different elemental habitats, giving Trainers increased opportunities to encounter Pokémon from all 18 Pokémon types across the event weekend and work towards earning Platinum medals for each type.
Additionally, players can encounter Pikachu with Team Instinct, Mystic and Valor hats. And if you’re lucky, you might even encounter a Shiny one! During the event, Trainers can enjoy the following bonuses:
● Increased chances of encountering Shiny Pokémon;
● Special Research and Timed Research;
● Up to nine free Raid Passes per day;
● Bonus trading features and expanded Gift limits.
The Pokémon GO Fest 2026: Global Melbourne event will run each day from 9am-6pm AEST and the Global event will run in game from 10am-7pm AEST. The Melbourne community event at Queensbridge Square is free to attend and open to Trainers of all ages and experience levels.
