EB Games scrapes barrel bottom with Plus subscriptions
Perhaps in a desperate bid to capitalise on the sort of indivduals that are actually proud of being duped into spending a small fortune to gain a Level 5 EB World card, EB Games have today announced their bafflingly awful EB World Plus subscription offer.
For just under $50 a year, you can have access to such amazing offers as “Buy $100 worth of socks, get $10 of socks for free” – elsewhere known as a 10% off coupon. Or “Buy 10 TCG Booster Packs, Get 1 Free!” – an offer you could technically get buy buying your booster packs somewhere that isn’t EB Games.
As a big fuck-you to good taste and the environment, people who still buy Pop! Vinyls for whatever reason can now get an extra bland looking piece of plastic trash when they buy 10 others!
Look, 5% of Digital Currency might be worthwhile if you’re dropping mad stacks on Shark Cards or Robucks or whatever the hell other Digital funny-money games are selling in 2024, but some basic math tells us that you’ll want to hit at least $1000 of purchases across the year before you see a single cent in savings – Thar she blows!
Here’s the full list of “benefits”:
- FREE GIFT: With 12 month sign-up
- BUY 10 GET 1 FREE BOOSTERS: Get a FREE Booster valued up to $15 after every 10th individual Booster purchase!
- BUY 10 GET 1 FREE POP! VINYLS: Get a FREE Pop! Vinyl valued up to $35 after every 10th Pop! Vinyl purchase!

Far be it from Player2 to tell anyone how to spend their money, because we’d need to have some in the first place to manage that, but this deal smells pretty cooked. Like all shite news and shifty embargo dates, it was also shuffled out at the end of the day when most traditional media outlets would be clocked off of coverage and on sale before any real criticism could drop. From our perspective, this deal is a a big red (sale) flag, but if you plan on trading in over a grands worth of games in the next year rather than dealing with FB marketplace scammers, EB have you sorted with that 5% bonus. Trade and Save indeed!
