ReachOut Is Hitting The Streams To Save Lives
You probably all know that mental health issues for Australia’s youth are a big issue. 40% of young people in this country are dealing with some sort of mental health problem and suicide is the leading cause of death for 14-25 year olds. Those sort of numbers are staggering and it may seem like there isn’t much anyone can do about it. Well ReachOut Australia, a service that provides a range of mental health services to Australia’s youth disagrees and need some help along the way.
From August 25th to the 31st, ReachOut will be hosting Level Up, a streaming initiative that aims to bring streamers together to highlight the importance of mental health services as well as raise vital funds to support the cause. The week-long event will be live on Twitch and ReachOut is encouraging anyone who feels strongly about the issue to join in and help. Be it as a streamer, chatting with others in the stream or even just spreading the word.
“We recognise that after friends and family, the internet is often the first place young people turn to for support when experiencing mental health difficulties. We know that a large portion of young people are both online and gaming, so we are excited to launch this fundraiser to build awareness of ReachOut’s services and connect with these young gamers where they are,” said Tracey Campbell, Director of Marketing and Fundraising at ReachOut. “By partnering with Twitch streamers, we aim to create awareness among their audiences that there is a safe space available if they’re going through tough times or looking for that extra support”.
