Tabletop Aplenty at PAX AUS 2024

Tabletop Aplenty at PAX AUS 2024

PAX Aus have announced that 2024 attendees can look forward to experiencing their largest Tabletop  area ever

It’s no shock to any dedicated PAX AUS attendee that each year the tabletop section continues to grow, with more publishers and designers making an appearance year over year. The introduction of the Tabletop category to the PAX AUS Indie Showcase in 2021 has helped foster local development and celebrated the variety of designs and designers we’re lucky to have Down Under. Player2 readers can look forward to interviews with each of the 2024 Indie Showcase winners across digital and tabletop.

In fact, Tabletop has grow so significantly at PAX AUS that the new Owlbear theatre will be opened focusing on one-shot TTRPG play across what promises to be the biggest weekend of gaming in Australia.

One of the biggest major publisher draws this year will be Disney Lorcana from Ravensburger, which has been a smash hit here at Player2

“We’re extremely excited to bring Disney Lorcana to Australian fans this year,” said Will Chan, Disney Lorcana Sales and Marketing Manager at Modern Brands (exclusive ANZ distributor). “Whether you’re a Disney fan, new to TCGs or a fully-fledged Illumineer well versed in questing for Lore, our booth will have something for everyone. We look forward to bringing the community together to play, learn and share in celebrating this wonderful experience during the show!”

For families attending PAX AUS, Lorcana is one of the best ways to bring everyone together around a table and their presence at the event is a great way to see if it works for you.  For those looking for something a little more complex, Star Wars: Unlimited returns after a successful debut in 2023 and will offer attendees an exclusive ‘Grogu’ event promo card – based on last years event promos, these will be given at the end of a demo session of the game which I highly enjoyed last year.

Of course, CCG Titan Magic The Gathering will also be making waves at PAX AUS, alongside Dungeons & Dragons which celebrates half a century of adventure in 2024. Exclusive D&D merch and hands-on demos of upcoming content will be available across the entire three days of PAX AUS. Publisher Bandai will once again be offering demos and tournament play for their roster of card games including One Piece, Dragon Ball Super, Digimon and their newest addition, Sand Land.

To top it off, mini painters can look forward to Australian distributor/publisher Let’s Play Games returning with their ‘Paint and Take’ event with a Medieval twist, while publishers Catan Studios, Exploding Kitten Studios, Big Potato Games and more will have new titles to show off.

PAX Aus runs across October 11-13 at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre. While Three-Day Badges have already sold out, there are still some badges available for Saturday and Sunday, so don’t delay in picking one up if you haven’t already!
