Crazy DLC the Order of the Day for Far Cry 5

Crazy DLC the Order of the Day for Far Cry 5

There is a whole bunch of Far Cry 5 news hitting the virtual airwaves today. The first is a new Story trailer which places the spotlight clearly on the, frankly quite scary, doomsday cult that has taken over Hope County Montana. It is a fantastic setup for a Far Cry game and one I hope Ubisoft doesn’t shy away from.

The next bit of news is that people who buy the gold edition of Far Cry 5 will receive a copy of Far Cry 3 Classic Edition. I can’t imagine that too much has been done to this re-release, probably just an upscale to the PC version’s resolutions, but considering Far Cry 3 is still a pretty good looking game, there isn’t too much to complain about. Season Pass holders will have Far Cry 3 for four weeks before it then becomes available as a purchase on Xbox Live and the PSN.

The Final bit of news is perhaps the craziest. It seems that Ubisoft has been channelling the spirit of B-movies again, the same spirit that led them to create Blood Dragon. The three pieces of DLC for Far Cry 5 completely leave the serious dark setting of Hope County and embrace crazy, out their ideas, that are sure to keep people smiling while shooting. The three pieces of DLC are as follows:

  • Hours of Darkness: Players will travel back in time to Vietnam to battle against Việt Cộng soldiers
  • Dead Living Zombies: Players will face hordes of zombies across multiple b-movie scenarios
  • Lost on Mars: Players will leave Earth behind to go toe-to-claws with Martian arachnids

So, not exactly what was expected from the season pass, but in my mind, it is totally welcomed. I am actually considering buying the Season Pass for the first time in an age.

Far Cry 5 is hitting shelves March 27, 2018.
