News Bites – 9th of May 2018
Breast Cancer gets Mercy
Here at Player 2, we love it when video game companies get creative in charity fundraising and this latest effort from Blizzard is a cracker. From now until May 22 there will be a special pink skin available to purchase for Mercy in Overwatch. All proceeds from the sale of this skin will be donated to the Breast Cancer Research Fund (BCRF). It is a seriously great way to earn some money for a very worthy cause and with Mother’s day this weekend, a timely reminder of how important this sort of research is. I don’t usually buy things like Skins and Costumes but I am going to make an exception in this instance.
Keynote Speaker for PAX Australia is announced
Award-winning writer of such games a Rise of the Tomb Raider and Heavenly Sword, Rhianna Pratchett has been announced as the keynote speaker for this year’s PAX Aus. Pratchett will be delivering the “Storytime” keynote at the opening of this year’s event. With her BAFTA-winning history for her work in video games, this is sure to be one presentation aspiring writers will not want to miss.
The Warmind is Here
Guardians rejoice! Destiny 2 gets its second major expansion today. Titled Warmind, it includes new gear, deeper endgame content, activities, an all-new story, and features an epic new boss battle that challenges players in new ways. In Warmind, players will meet Ana Bray, a hero voiced by prominent actress Jamie Chung and travel to a brand new area set on the Polar Ice Caps of Mars. Stay tuned for Player 2’s thoughts on the expansion soon
A Square E3 Show
For the first time since 2015, Square Enix will be giving an E3 presentation. Hopefully, this means some big announcements from the distinguished publisher. Will we see more on Final Fantasy VII? Maybe some of their Avenger’s game? There could even be room for some big surprises… I wouldn’t say no to Just Cause 4 (set in Australia of course). You can catch the whole show at 3 am AEST on the 12th of June. If that time is just too early for you, fear not because Player 2 will be up and have a full summary for you in the morning.
Dad, Gamer, Writer, Husband all rolled into one big ball of random matter.
Editor of Player 2, Matt spends his time yelling at strangers as they walk past, imploring them to visit Player 2. Sadly this tactic hasn’t yielded any significant results but he keeps on trying regardless.
