The Aftermath – 2018 The Player 2 Charity Marathon
Well my friends, The Player 2 Charity Marathon has been and gone for another year and I must say that I couldn’t be happier. Currently, our total raised is sitting at $4329, a massive increase on last year’s total and a number that easily eclipses our target of $3500. To say I am pumped would be an understatement. It was such a success that I just can’t stop smiling.
It wasn’t only just about raising money though, it was about having a lot of fun in the process and we had a blast. Some of the highlights include:
- My son Jake’s enthusiastic Halo performance
- A spirited contest of exceptional fighting game players in both Street Fighter and Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite
- Rock Band revelry
- A lively round of golf while I was fading into delirium
- A Sega All-Stars Racing performance for the history books.
If you want to catch up on any of the P2 action please check out the playlist below. Paul is going through and breaking each hour into a video and will be putting them up here. The perfect way to relive your favourite moment.
This event could only have happened with the help some amazing people and I am going to take just a second to mention them. First, my wife Amy. Her moral support and catering skills were greatly appreciated. Paul for being the man in charge of social media, he made sure everyone was informed and entertained. Player 2 writers Adam and Shaun for joining me on the evening and helping me get through the night. Finally and more importantly I want to thank everyone that donated. Your generosity is proof that people are willing to help those in need and it warms my soul.
Special thanks also go to those legendary PR and Games companies that donated prizes to the event: Xbox Australia, Ubisoft Australia, Five Star Games, Bandai Namco Australia, MPS, Bethesda Australia, 2K Australia, Turn Left Distribution, Lumi Consulting, Defiant Development, Power Up, Devolver Digital and Richard Armitt. Your amazing donation allowed us to raise such an awesome amount.
Speaking of prizes, you have until Friday to donate and be in the running to win your share of awesome prizes. We will then draw the winners and get in contact with them via the email address they used when they donated. So if you want to win some sweet gear, including a Playstation VR, make sure you donate before Saturday. We will be drawing the winners of the early-bird prizes this week too, so stay tuned for that.
So that’s it for another year. For those playing along at home that brings our total to $10735 raised thanks to the P2 Charity Marathon, $8114 of that going to The Terry Campese Foundation. It is something I am very proud of and it makes me so happy that all of you join us for the ride. As for next year… well only time will tell.
