Tom Clancy’s Rainbow 6: Siege Coming to Next-Gen
Good news for enthusiasts of competitive shooter Rainbow 6: Siege, with news coming out of Ubisoft today that as of December 1st next-generation upgrades will be available for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S at the very good price of absolutely free. Obviously, the caveat with the upgrade is that you only get access to the free upgrade on the same console family that you already had.
Now if you are lucky enough to have a next-gen console that can run the upgraded versions in all their glorious looking resolution and frame rates but none of your friends had that same fortune do not despair for Ubisoft has thought ahead and ensured that you will always be able to play with your friends’ thanks to cross-gen play capabilities. It doesn’t matter if you are using a PS5 while your buddies are on PS4, or even if you have a team spread through Xbox One, Series X and Series S, you will be able to continue playing with your friends on the console you own. Ubisoft did specifically mention in the press release that there is no cross-platform play currently supported, so it may happen in the future but it also may not.
Those who will be taking up the upgrade offer will be treated to not only the enhanced resolution and frame rates, but will also have access to new accessibility options, quick start and streamlined intro sequence and the deeper immersion brought to life by the Dualsense controller on PS5.
