2025's Most Anticipated Games - Jenn's Picks
2025 is shaping up to be one of the biggest years in video games of all time. No matter whether you play on PC, PlayStation 4 or 5, Xbox One or Series X|S, or the Nintendo Switch, and maybe the upcoming Switch successor, you’re going to have a lot to play in 2025. Given that, we couldn’t simply pool the team’s thoughts into one top 10 countdown of the most anticipated games, so we solicited 10 from each person to discuss. Today, hear what Jenn has to say about their 10 most anticipated games of 2025.

10. Tales of the Shire
I am such a big slut for a cosy fantasy game, and I hope that Tales of the Shire is going to tick a lot of my boxes. Though the preview we saw a few months ago looked disappointing, I’m hoping the studio took on people’s criticisms and made some changes. Leaning on the LOTR name won’t be enough if the game is soulless, but there’s only a few months before I get to find out!

9. Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time
I still remember playing the first Fantasy Life game when I was sick home from work one day. It was so good that even when I got better, I stayed “sick” for a couple more days so I could play more of it. Plus any reason to breathe a bit more life into my Switch is something that makes me happy.

8. Grand Theft Auto VI
What do I really need to say about this? The whole entire world is excited for this game. But what I LOVE is that I can finally play as a woman, which is basically all I’ve wanted to do in GTA since I was a kid. Though the story and missions are obviously a huge part of the game, what I’m really excited about is driving around the city, exploring new places, and of course, beating the shit out of people with baseball bats. Bring it on.

7. Fable
It’s Fable.
That’s it. That’s the blurb.

6. Pokemon Legends Z-A
I never played the first Pokemon Legends game, despite the rave reviews it got. Whilst the gameplay seemed appealing, the locale just wasn’t my vibe, so in a year where the market was so saturated by awesome games, I gave it a miss. However the upcoming Legends title looks absolutely baller (from what little of it we have seen) and I’m keen for the release.

5. Haunted Chocolatier
GIMME THIS GAME RIGHT NOW. After falling back in love with Stardew Valley after the 1.6 update I am even more excited for Haunted Chocolatier. I’d love to see a bit more variation before release (as right now it looks a bit too similar to Stardew) but as long as there’s another cute, grumpy boy for me to romance and some great game mechanics, I’ll be happy.

4. Inzoi
Inzoi is a game I am cautiously optimistic about. It looks like it has a lot of potential, but its use of AI is a bit ‘ehhh’ for me. But as a long time lover of The Sims, seeing EA cut the franchise into slithers and pound it into the ground makes me sad. Part of the reason I’m excited for Inzoi to come out is because it’ll finally give EA some competition in the life-sim space, and maybe force them to care a little more. Maybe. Probably not. But either way Inzoi has a cat for a mascot so let’s go.

3. Tomb Raider Remastered IV-VI
As much as I adore brand new titles, worlds and IPs, I am also a sucker for nostalgia. After the success of the first trilogy of Tomb Raider games, I am so excited to see the next three coming out as well. Old school Lara Croft will always be my favourite, and I’m so happy to be able to play all the old games again.

2. Witchbrook
If I’m being honest, I don’t think this game is ever going to come out. If I’m wrong and it does get a release, I fully expect it to take over my life for a long time. I can be a little witch wreaking havoc in my school and my town, plus foster enemies AND romances? And on top of it all, I get to do these things in a world that looks absolutely BEAUTIFUL with the amazing art style they’ve adapted. I did say I was a big slut for a cosy fantasy game and I stand by that statement. Come on Chucklefish, don’t let me down!

1. Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
The only style of game I love more than a cosy fantasy game is a turn-based RPG. And a turn based RPG that includes the amazing Ben Starr and Jennifer English is one I am going to jump on and never let go of. The music, the world, the character, enemy and battle designs all have me screaming. I cannot wait for Ben Starr to be all up in my eyes and ears again. Lets.freaking.go.
