Pepper Grinder | Hype Check
With Devolver Digital’s Pepper Grinder now only a few days away, we wanted to touch base with some of our team to see how they’re feeling about the game. We’ve seen a range of media up to this point, from gameplay showcases and trailers, we’ve seen the press releases, and heard the talk, but how are we feeling? That’s where we’re bringing Hype Check into the mix; to get a gauge on what the prospective players are thinking. So here’s how we’re feeling about Pepper Grinder.

I’ve had the opportunity to go hands on with Pepper Grinder on a few occasions now, and with each hands-on session, I feel more sure that I’m going to love the final product. We now have a release date on both PC and Switch (a shame that it’s not day and date on PlayStation, but I digress) and my excitement is really starting to spike. Mechanically Pepper Grinder really appeals, and so I hope that the game can really strike the ideal balance between length and number of different things to do.

I hadn’t seen anything about this because March is already so busy. After watching the trailer, it reminds me that Devolver sure do publish some weird games. This looks absolutely bananas but fun as heck. The trailer shows off quite a bit of mixed mechanics but it’s absolute anarchy, but this feels like it’ll be fun to play when things are a bit less busy.

I only really became aware of Pepper Grinder during the recent Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase, but it’s definitely made an impression. Like Paul, I’m hoping it’s managed to find that sweet spot in game length that doesn’t fall short, but that doesn’t overstay its welcome. Mechanically it’s super interesting though, and I still need to check out that demo – but at this stage, based on what I’ve seen, I’m intrigued!
