ID@Xbox Cracks 1000 Titles
Indie development has gone from strength in recent times and the major players in the games industry have all seen the importance of a well-rounded indie range on their respective systems. Xbox, in some ways, was a bit of an industry leader in this regard. With their Summer of Arcade promotion from the early days of the Xbox 360 becoming the ID@Xbox program, a huge publishing partnership that aims to help developers bring their titles to the Xbox platform. Now ID@Xbox has reached a huge milestone, 1000 titles released under the banner. A massive achievement to be sure. To commemorate the occasion, Chris Charla, head of the program, wrote the following open letter:
Before we announced the ID@Xbox program, we did a listening tour in 2012 with more than 50 developers to help us shape a program that really worked for developers. At the time, it felt like a lot of people! It’s almost surreal that we’re now looking at thousands of talented people working at more than 3,000 studios independently creating games for millions of players around the world on Xbox One and Windows 10 with the ID@Xbox program. It’s an amazing feeling to not only see how much the independent development scene has grown over the years, but also to be part of a program that empowers and helps independent developers continue to do what they love.
It is a massive achievement and one I think that should be celebrated. Getting all of these games to the wider, console playing public is important for the developers, giving them exposure that is hard to come by using the traditional release methods.
Stay tuned for our interview with Chris in the near future.

Editor of Player 2, Matt spends his time yelling at strangers as they walk past, imploring them to visit Player 2. Sadly this tactic hasn’t yielded any significant results but he keeps on trying regardless.
