SXSW Sydney – 2023 Games Festival Awards

The inaugural SXSW Sydney 2023 Games Festival Awards were held on Friday night at Fortress Bar, a multilevel spectacle including a DnD themed Tavern bar, working Arcade and a large event space complete with a stage and mezzanine area. The awards comprised of both digital and tabletop games with a number of exciting titles in the running, some of which Player2 has covered previously. Opened by Sarah Wolfe, the night also saw performances from headliner and host Tom Cardy who MC’d in between performances of many of his hit viral songs alongside a special appearance by Montaigne before descending into raucous karaoke and frenetic play in the Arcade until late into the evening. Below are the categories and the winning titles:

 

Taiwan’s Nine Sols took out the Discovery Award against the following fellow nominees:

Black Salt Games’ DREDGE took the Game of the Year award for SXSW Sydney 2023 against the following nominees:
