Player 2's 21 Most Anticipated Games Of 2024: #6-#2
You may have recently seen that we enlisted a range of our writers the task of determining their ten most anticipated games of 2024. That gave us a lot of data to comb through, and some clear front runners. We did some work with that data and compiled this, the top 21 most anticipated games of 2024 according to the P2 writing team.
How it worked: Each writer had to come up with their games, ranked from 10 (least) to 1 (most) in terms of their anticipation for the title. For this, a selection at 1 was worth 10 points, while a selection at 10 was worth one point (and so on). This allowed us to rank the games based on their overall score compiled from each writer’s rankings.
So with that said, let’s get into the list; starting today with positions #6 to #2
#6 - 18 Point Each
Hollow Knight: Silksong
How the hell is this not out yet? I played it at PAXAUS Pre-pandemic, and it was assumed it would be out the following year – I think a full five years is enough time to wrap things up for Silksong, unless it’s an insidious plan by Nintendo to launch it alongside a Switch successor? Whatever the case may be, surely Team Cherry won’t make me wait until 2025 for more Hollow Knight in my life?
Princess Peach: Showtime
When this game was announced back in June, I truly screamed (quietly, because those Nintendo Directs happen at unholy times for us Down Under). I’ve been waiting a long time to get a game with Peach as the protagonist, and I can’t believe it’s finally almost here. Showtime! looks sort of like Peach’s own Kirby adventure, with this kickass princess at the helm. It’s gonna be amazing.

Senua's Saga: Hellblade II
Wherein Tim is excited for a game he likely won’t be able to play. I really liked the original Hellblade, which I played on my PlayStation 4. I don’t own an Xbox Series console. I didn’t own an Xbox One, either… living in Japan makes it a little redundant. The amount of spare time I have in my life makes it even more redundant.
On the off chance I get a PC upgrade, then this will be a likely first-purchase to show of the overpriced graphics card, though. This one looks spectacular, and has a level of production behind it that is uncommon for something so likely to be so intimate.

LIke A Dragon: Infinite Wealth
Shock, Matt is pumped for Yakuza. Infinite Wealth is taking Kiryu and Ichiban outside of Japan for the first time and bringing a range of crazy shenanigans along for the ride. Yakuza 7 was fantastic and it was only the late-game grind that stopped it from being my favourite game in the franchise. If they can get that right, I do not doubt that this could be the best game in the franchise yet.
#3 - 27 Points
Dragon's Dogma 2
Years ago I sat in a quiet hotel room with Itsuno-san and his translator, playing a demo for Dragon’s Dogma before it launched. I’d played a different demo prior, but this is where the game solidified itself as amazing in my eyes, getting consistent commentary from the director. There is no game that does mechanics and world quite like Dragon’s Dogma, and that’s why I own 8 copies of it and have played multiple hundreds of hours across various consoles. What a game.
#2 - 31 Points
Star Wars: Outlaws
I just really, really want this to be good. I was a little underwhelmed by Frontiers of Pandora (also released by Massive Entertainment this year), but I don’t want to think of that as an indication of how I’m going to feel about this. Outlaws looks like it’s going to be a real romp, and I always do love a good female protagonist – something which it took a while for us to get in the Star Wars universe.
Stay tuned tomorrow for the game that the Player2 team voted as the number one, most anticipated game of 2024!
