The Outlast Trials | Hype Check

With Red Barrell’s The Outlast Trials is imminent, we wanted to touch base with some of our team to see how they’re feeling about the game. We’ve seen a range of media up to this point, from gameplay showcases and trailers, we’ve seen the press releases, and heard the talk, but how are we feeling? That’s where we’re bringing Hype Check into the mix; to get a gauge on what the prospective players are thinking. So here’s how we’re feeling about The Outlast Trials.

I’m no horror guy for the most part, and those that I’ve jumped into in recent years are a pretty known commodity with lots of documentation about the way they try to scare you – making it easier for me to get the stones to jump in. There’s not nearly as much about the Outlast games out there and so I can’t find it within me to jump in. Couple that with the fact that I’m not that much of a horror fan, so I don’t want to commit the time to a genre that I don’t have an enormous amount of love for, save for select exceptions.

You know, March is really starting to scare me. No pun intended. I adore horror (and RPGs, and strategy, and survival, don’t judge me) and this has been on my radar for ages. I didn’t actually realise it was coming to the end of Early Access. Fantastic news. Co-op horror can be a bit hit and miss but this seems like a lot of fun and it’s reviewed well even during EA.
