Another Crab's Treasure | Hype Check
With Aggro Crab’s Another Crab’s Treasure now only a few days away, we wanted to touch base with some of our team to see how they’re feeling about the game. We’ve seen a range of media up to this point, from gameplay showcases and trailers, we’ve seen the press releases, and heard the talk, but how are we feeling? That’s where we’re bringing Hype Check into the mix; to get a gauge on what the prospective players are thinking. So here’s how we’re feeling about Another Crab’s Treasure.

I’m not crazy about Soulslikes, however Another Crab’s Treasure has an energy that I really vibe with, and the presence of a “fuck no, I’m not going to spend the time to ‘git gud’” assist mode makes me so incredibly happy, which adds a significant number of points to my hype score. It’s rare to see a Souslike with this much colour in it, and that’s a nice tonal shift as well. Sign me up if the stars align right

I don’t mind hard games, I played the 3D ninja Gaiden on xbox and got past the second hardest boss, but I’m not really a fan of Souls games or Soulslike in this case. I find they often give me Sim sickness. I have a feeling that Another Crab’s Treasure will be the same which is unfortunate as it does look like a good time otherwise. So while it’s not for me personally, I’m excited for the other people who will get to enjoy this game.

With a name like this, I thought it was a puzzle game. It wasn’t until an editor tapped me on the shoulder that I went “Oh dip, this is actually a game for me.” This looks cutesy and weird which has a big juxtaposition with the difficulty that Soulslikes conjure in the mind. This reminds me a lot of a short little Soulslike I played a few years ago where you play as a bug. The name escapes me. Long story short, it’s a Soulslike that’s in the public eye, I’ll probably play it.

This game looks adorable, and like it’s going to make me smile and scream in frustration at the same time. I don’t have the patience for Soulslikes, but maybe I do want to look at this lil guy while I struggle for an extended period of time? It’s hard to know until I’m doing it. But I absolutely want to give this game a try.
