Final Fantasy XVI: The Rising Tide | Hype Check
With Square-Enix’s Final Fantasy XVI DLC, The Rising Tide now only a few days away, we wanted to touch base with some of our team to see how they’re feeling about the game. We’ve seen a range of media up to this point, from gameplay showcases and trailers, we’ve seen the press releases, and heard the talk, but how are we feeling? That’s where we’re bringing Hype Check into the mix; to get a gauge on what the prospective players are thinking. So here’s how we’re feeling about Final Fantasy XVI: The Rising Tide.

I would need to buy the base game first. And before that I would need to buy a PS5. Cue shrugging.

Final Fantasy XVI was my GOTY last year so I’m absolutely pumped to check out what Clive, Jill, and co are up to with this expansion. The first piece of DLC that launched in December didn’t wow me through a narrative context, but, the gameplay was exactly as I adored it, and the final boss encounter was spectacular. If the team can nail the plot for this DLC, and make it feel more essential, whilst still delivering on the gameplay, the Rising Tide DLC could be a GOTY contender again for me

If you played Final Fantasy XVI then you’re pretty excited for this one. My Discord friends group is all a-titter with expectation for the DLC. Hopefully it pans out a bit better than Final Fantasy XV’s DLC, one way or the other. This being said, I’ve not played it so it’s hard for me to get excited about it. Hope it’s great either way!
