Monthly Grab Bag – May 2015
Xbox Games with Gold
After the feast of free games last month things return to normal with 1 new Xbox one game and two new games on the 360.
On the Xbox One players will be able to access CastleStorm, the physics based tower defence/brawler/strategy game. This is a fun little title that is good for short bursts but don’t expect this one to take up all your free time.
The Xbox 360 gets two quality titles. The first half of the month will allow players to download Mafia II, the great action game that tells the tale of a young Italian-American as he climbs the ladder of organised crime. Great game that is well worth your time.
The second half of the month is for rev heads with F1 2013. The F1 series is known for its punishing simulation gameplay so it is probably not a game for everyone. Those that enjoy this sort of thing are sure to get a lot out of it.
Playstation Plus
This month’s Playstation Plus selection sees a whole host of indie titles that are playable on multiple systems. Hohokum (a strangle looking relaxation game), Race the Sun (you guessed it) and indie classic The Unfinished Swan (A story puzzle game with an amazing art style) are all playable on PS4, PS3 and PS Vita so it is a win for all Sony gamers
The PS4 is getting two exclusive titles though. The first is Metroidvania classic Guacamelee! Super Turbo Championship Edition. A great game if you haven’t played it with tight, challenging gameplay and a great sense of humor.
The second exclusive game is Ether One which is a first person puzzle game. The premise is you are tasked with putting together the memories of mentally ill people so it is intriguing at the very least.
Finally the PS Vita is getting it own exclusive with Murasaki Baby which is another creepy puzzle game. Players are tasked with navigating a baby through a nightmarish landscape, So not exactly a barrel of laughs but it looks entertaining.
Origin: On the House
This month Origin has once again dipped into the vaults of classic EA titles with Ultima 8 on offer for all Origin users. This classic RPG may look a little rough around the edges but the Ultima series was always ahead of its time so it remains very playable to this day.
