Go For Pro – Forget the Ashes, This is IEM

For those of you who have been paying attention (and reading my articles on the topic at hand), IEM (Intel Extreme Masters) is running yet another Sydney event this year. For those fortunate enough to have attended one of these events, knows that it’s a blast from start to finish. To give you a glimpse at the hype and energy from last year’s event, go check out the final moments of the CS:GO finals here:

A part we didn’t cover last time, but will this year is a friendly rivalry between Australian and English veteran CS:GO players, aptly named ‘The Caches’. Chad ‘Spunj’ Burchill will yet again lead the Australian side into battle to which Australia has won the last two outings (although Australia only took the win 16-15 in an incredible come back in 2018).

This is yet another excuse to go check out IEM this year 3rd – 5th of May – 2019, here are some helpful links to get you started:

Quick Catch Ups – EVO Japan and Overwatch League 2019

Following up their previous year (which reportedly lost quite a bit of money … but oh well), Japan had its very own EVO to kick the FGC New Year off the right now! Now, of course, there were many fighting games on show, but as always, SFV was pulling in the biggest numbers.

As with every new year, patch updates and changes mixes things up a lot and two of the biggest surprises were set aside for the Grand Final where two Street Fighter veterans, Fuudo and Momochi squared off, each getting much success with their new mains.

Without spoiling too much, the finals were full of special moments, so go here to check out the entire top 8:

And lastly, the Overwatch League Season 2 (2019) has begun with the first round of matches already played out. This year is going to be massive and it’s already proving to be even bigger and better than it was last year, go follow their Twitch channel and check out your favourite teams matches here:

And that’s it for the time being, until next time … game on!
