Steam Machines Sell Out
About a month ago Valve enabled pre-orders of the first wave of Steam branded hardware with the added bonus that if you pre-ordered you would get the hardware a month earlier than everyone else. Well that deal has ended today with the entire allotment having been sold out. People who pre-ordered will get their hardware on the 16th of October with everyone else having to wait for the official release date of November 10.
The Steam hardware catalog includes Steam Machines (purpose built gaming machines designed to connect to TV’s), Steam Link (a small device designed to act as a bridge between a gaming PC and a TV) and the strangely designed Steam Controller. The price for the Steam Machines varies depending on the hardware but both the Steam link and Steam Controller cost $50 USD.
It will be interesting to see how this Steam branded hardware performs, especially considering everything they offer can be done with current hardware. Perhaps the brand alone is enough to encourage sales.
